Artyom Nurvan studies ceramics and porcelain at UMPRUM. He originally focused on graphic design, but gradually became more interested in working with material. In his practice, he combines traditional craft with illustration, animation and digital media, seeking his own visual language somewhere between seriousness and playfulness. He works with themes of digitalisation and artificiality, which he transforms into organic and fantastical forms. He has taken part in several group exhibitions. In 2025, the Křehký brand was nominated for the Designblok Awards for the candleholder Bezstarostnost (Carefreeness), designed by Artyom, and for the same object he received the EDIDA (ELLE Decoration International Design Awards) in the Young Talent category.
The series of porcelain candleholders titled Carefreeness was created during the summer semester 2023/2024 studio assessment, in response to a reflection on the DNA of the Křehký brand. The objects were meant to become the antiques of the future and an ideal gift. In the limited edition of six coloured and six white candleholders, we can sense the poetics of Alice in Wonderland. The hand-modelled objects resemble flowers frozen just before they burst into bloom, which lends the pieces a certain decadence.
The objects were included in the exclusive Křehký Collectibles line, which brings together limited editions and unique pieces by both established and emerging designers.
Křehký: Antiques of the Future
The Křehký brand represents a unique phenomenon on the contemporary European design scene, deliberately blurring the fine line between functional objects and fine art. It operates as an ongoing curatorial project mapping the emotional landscape of the material world and exploring the archetypes of home and gift-giving. Since its inception, Křehký has pioneered and established the concept of collectible design in the Czech context. Its objects regularly come to life in exhibitions within the unique setting of Křehký Mikulov, a spring festival dedicated to collectible design. In this way, a collection of quiet and poetic artefacts is created, intended to be given, inherited and to preserve stories across generations.
70% of the hammer price is allocated to support the Spolu s odvahou Foundation, a member of the Bátor Tábor Family.
