The Évelyne model is a versatile handbag, equally suited to casual wear and more relaxed formal settings. Its origins trace back to historic equestrian saddle bags, in which riders carried small necessities and treats for their horses. A subtle reference to this heritage endures in the form of the distinctive perforated “H”, which originally served to ventilate the contents of those early bags and has since become an iconic hallmark of the design.
The present example is crafted using the highly intricate and now discontinued Vibrato technique, which involves layering exceptionally fine strips of leather in a range of colours. These are meticulously assembled into distinctive mosaic-like compositions, lending the handbag a striking yet refined artistic character. Owing to the technical complexity of this process and the limited scope of its production, Évelyne Vibrato models are today regarded as highly sought-after collector’s pieces.
