Original Designs for the Cover of Mravenci se nedají (Set of Two Drawings)

These are the original designs for the front and back covers for the first Russian edition of Ondřej Sekora’s book Mravenci se nedají, created in 1957–1958 and published by Detgiz in 1958. More than twenty years later, the same illustrations were reused in the preparation of the third Soviet edition of the book, published in 1981 by the Leningrad branch of the Detskaya Literatura publishing house. The surviving publishing mounts bear period stamps, editorial notes and the job number 83, corresponding to the number stated in the colophon of the 1981 edition. The original mounts, which will be passed on to the new owner, thus form an integral part of the works and document their authentic publishing history.
