Portrait of Mrs Michalová

The value of the painting is enhanced by its original frame, which the artist had previously used for another work, as indicated by the author’s inscription on the reverse suggesting that it once belonged to the famous Portrait of a Little Girl. The work was presented at the artist’s posthumous exhibition held at the Municipal House in Prague under the title Portrait of Mrs. M. (12 March – 24 April 1932, cat. no. 264).
