Dear art lovers,
We are delighted to present to you a new auction collection prepared for the 94th live auction of KODL Gallery. This autumn&rsquo;s auction is distinguished by several significant and rare collections. The section devoted to old art &ndash; or, more precisely, to the &ldquo;long 19th century&rdquo; &ndash; features works by August Bedřich Piepenhagen, Josef Navr&aacute;til, and Adolf Chwala. Also represented are members of Mař&aacute;k&rsquo;s landscape school, including Anton&iacute;n Slav&iacute;ček, Franti&scaron;ek Kav&aacute;n, and Jaroslav Panu&scaron;ka. An exceptional figure of this generation, Jan Preisler, is presented with a representative selection of three paintings, among them his gallery-quality masterpiece Diana, depicting the goddess of the hunt.
The art of the 20th century is represented by an extensive collection tracing all creative periods of Josef Čapek. Never before have five iconic oil paintings by this artist appeared together in a single auction. Among the highlights are early Cubist double-sided works, including Prostitute/Two Children, from the collection of JUDr. Borovička.&nbsp;Collectors of 20th-century art will also appreciate works by Emil Filla, Josef Lada, Al&eacute;n Divi&scaron;, and a rare early still life, Still Life with a Glass Jug, by Franti&scaron;ek Muzika.
The collection further includes exotic inspirations from the Chinese painter Čchi Paj-&scaron;&rsquo; as well as a rarity &ndash; a complete edition of the famous Erotic Revue edited by Jindřich &Scaron;tyrsk&yacute;.&nbsp;Also featured are works by leading artists of the Czech Informel movement, such as Bedřich Dlouh&yacute;, Jan Koblasa, and Mikul&aacute;&scaron; Medek. The Czech selection is complemented by high-quality works of Slovak artists including Milo&scaron; Alexander Bazovsk&yacute;, Franti&scaron;ek Mal&yacute;, Imro Weiner Kr&aacute;ľ, and Cypri&aacute;n Majern&iacute;k.
The auction collection culminates with works by contemporary artists of various generations &ndash;&nbsp;Magdal&eacute;na Jetelov&aacute;, MAATTY, Josef Bolf, and Michael Rittstein.
The auction will also feature a&nbsp;charity section: the first three paintings will be auctioned to support the Post Bellum non-profit organization and its Memory of Nations project. An additional five lots will be auctioned to benefit the&nbsp;Centrum Paraple foundation.
The pre-auction exhibition is open from 3&ndash;29 November at KODL Gallery, daily including weekends and public holidays, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
