The autumn 94th auction of Galerie KODL offered 205 exceptional works of art. The starting price of CZK 95,8 milion was increased to CZK 265.5 million. A total of 94% of the items were sold. The most expensive painting auctioned was Emil Filla&rsquo;s Reader, reaching CZK 32,4 milion. Thank you for your trust and interest!
Of the group of five paintings by Josef Čapek, the highest price was achieved by the double-sided work Prostitute from 1917, which features the Cubist painting Two Children on the reverse. With a realized price of CZK 30,600,000, it surpassed Čapek&rsquo;s previous auction record of CZK 18,000,000 set in 2022.
Artist records were also set for V&aacute;clav Bartovsk&yacute;&rsquo;s canvas Riverside (CZK 4,200,000) and for the object Altar of the Present by the Slovak artist Stano Filko (CZK 5,000,040), whose price increased more than eightyfold. Record prices were also exceeded for works by Josef J&iacute;ra, Olbram Zoubek, Jan Koblasa, Stanislav Podhr&aacute;zsk&yacute;, Lubom&iacute;r Typlt, Emma Srncov&aacute;, Michal Mr&aacute;z, and Pavel Riesenauer.
Collectors also fought a dramatic bidding battle for Diana by Jan Preisler, and the works of Zdeněk Burian and Josef Lada likewise attracted notable attention.
Auctioneers will be able to pick up the works by appointment at the KODL Gallery on N&aacute;rodn&iacute; 7, Prague 1 from Tuesday 3 December.
