Vladimír Véla graduated from the studios of Classical Painting (prof. Zdeněk Beran) and Intermedia (prof. Milan Knížák) at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. He applies a performative approach to painting based on Boudník-style spots and associative layering of motifs. In 2008 and 2009, he became a finalist for the NG 333 award for young artists under 33. Nowadays, his work is represented in the National Gallery Prague and other important institutional and private collections of contemporary art. Of the hammer price, 90% will be donated to the non-profit organisation Save-Elephants.
Eight leading visual artists have created a unique collection of paintings inspired by an expedition to Congo, which took place in September 2024 under the auspices of Save-Elephants. The proceeds from these artworks will help develop the educational activities of this Czech non-profit organisation. The works will be presented at the pre-sale exhibition on 3-21 March in the National Theatre's Utility Building B (not in the KODL Gallery).
Thank you to the National Theatre for their cooperation in the exhibition and for providing the exhibition space.
