Laura Limbourg, a Czech artist with Belgian roots and a graduate of the studios of Martin Mainer and Josef Bolf at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts, is known for her expressive paintings on unprimed canvases or silk, in which she portrays distant cultures and social problems. In 2020, she won the Critics' Award for Young Painting. Her works can be found in many important collections of contemporary art and have been exhibited in many prestigious institutions. Of the hammer price, 90% will be donated to the non-profit organisation Save-Elephants.
Eight leading visual artists have created a unique collection of paintings inspired by an expedition to Congo, which took place in September 2024 under the auspices of Save-Elephants. The proceeds from these artworks will help develop the educational activities of this Czech non-profit organisation. The works will be presented at the pre-sale exhibition on 3-21 March in the National Theatre's Utility Building B (not in the KODL Gallery).
Thank you to the National Theatre for their cooperation in the exhibition and for providing the exhibition space.
