Although the core of the work of Alžběta Jungrová (1978) lies in journalistic and documentary photography, her oeuvre extends across nearly all photographic genres, and in recent years she has focused mainly on her own projects. However, her creative journey began with her work for newspapers. In the second half of the 1990s, she began working for the daily Mladá fronta Dnes and then for the Czech Photo Agency, after which she further developed her cooperation with other newspapers. She is also a founding member of the photographic association ASA 400. In the past, she focused on demanding large-scale journalistic and documentary projects. Her photos of unrest in the Gaza Strip, heroin traffickers on the Afghanistan–Pakistan border, and children infected with HIV in Vietnam have become particularly well known. Her current focus is mainly on photojournalism in the Czech environment, and the familiar context allows her to examine topics in greater depth. She also works with commercial and fashion photography or advertising, while fine art photography and exhibition projects are gaining importance for her as well. In her own projects she mainly uses female models, whom she selects carefully, seeking a personal affinity. The photograph in this auction stands out for its atmosphere and sensuality as well as the contrast between wild nature and the fragile human being.
